The short version

We don't store your queries, the pages you read, the domains you visit, or your IP address. We keep only what we need to run your account and bill you - a per-call record of which tool ran and what it cost, tied to your key. We never sell your data, and we never use it to train models. The next section shows every field our database holds, so you can check that for yourself rather than take our word for it.

Exactly what we store

We'd rather show you than ask you to trust us. Our database has four tables - here is every field in each. Your query text, the domains and pages you visit, and your IP address are not among them, because we never attach them to you.

Your account - to run your account, deliver and rotate your key, enforce your monthly budget, and bill you:
email · API key · plan · credits remaining · Stripe customer & subscription id (paid plans) · created and last-used time

Per-call usage - one row per tool call: your billing ledger, and how your monthly caps are counted:
your key · which tool · succeeded or failed · pages charged · time taken · why a fetch failed (a category, e.g. "blocked")
It records that a call happened and what it cost - never the query, the domain, the page path, the full URL, or the content. The site you visited is never tied to your key.

Cached public pages - shared across everyone, never linked to you, so a repeat request for a public page is fast and cheap:
the page's normalized address · the cleaned content · a content hash · a short expiry
Keyed by the address only - never by who asked or what they searched.

Per-site reliability - aggregate counts, tied to no one, so we stop paying to re-read a site that keeps refusing us:
domain · how often a paid fetch there has failed · last success and probe time

That is the whole picture. No table and no column holds your search text or the specific pages you read. Payment details (your card) are handled entirely by Stripe - we never see or store them.

What we do NOT do

  • We don't store your query text, the specific pages you read, or your IP address.
  • We don't sell, rent, or share your data for marketing.
  • We don't use your activity to train AI models or build an advertising profile.

Who else sees your request

Being honest about the parts we don't control: to search the live web, your query has to reach a search engine, and to read a page we have to fetch it. So a search provider and the sites you read do see the request - but they see it coming from our infrastructure, not your IP, and we never attach your identity to it. Payments go through Stripe. That is the full set of third parties in the path.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run Grounder, such as Stripe (payments) and our cloud hosting. They receive only what they need to provide their service, and only to operate Grounder. We don't share your data for any other purpose. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed for billing, tax, and legal reasons. Usage metadata is kept only as long as it's useful for billing and abuse-prevention.

Your choices

You can ask to see the account data we hold, or to delete your account and its data, by emailing [email protected]. You can cancel your subscription anytime from the billing portal.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your data. Please help by keeping your API key secret - treat it like a password.

Children

Grounder isn't intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes and contact
